    Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is one of the biggest health problems in the world. According to the International Diabetes Federation report, the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) continues to increase worldwide. In 2017, the prevalence of T2DM was 5.64 percent and then increased to 5.98 percent in 2019. The increase in the incidence of T2DM is accompanied by an increase in the number of complications. This study aims to determine the relationship of individual characteristics and physical activity with complications in T2DM patients at Dr. Tengku Mansyur Hospital in 2024. The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The study population was all Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus outpatients who came for treatment at the internal medicine clinic of RSUD Dr. Tengku Mansyur. The study sample was 83 people who were taken using accidental sampling technique. Descriptive analysis of univariate and bivariate data by chi-square test. Based on the results of the study, the proportion of complications in T2DM patients at RSUD Dr.Tengku Mansyur in 2024 was 55.4%. The results of the chi-square test show that there is a relationship between the variables of age (p<0,05), education (p<0,05), obesity (p<0,05), length of suffering (p<0,05) and physical activity (p<0,05) with the incidence of complications while the variable that has no relationship with the incidence of complications is gender (p>0,05). It is hoped that diabetics can control their blood sugar levels so that complications do not occur. In addition, it is expected that the hospital will conduct educational activities on the importance of controlling blood sugar levels by implementing a healthy lifestyle
