Analisis Pusat-Pusat Pertumbuhan Ekonomi di Kota Medan Provinsi Sumatera Utara
Analysis of Economic Growth Centers in The City of Medan, North Sumatra Province
Abstract
The Growth Center is an area whose growth is so rapid that it is used as a center of development that affects other areas around it. With the rapid
development in the area, there are problems that will cause regional imbalances
because activities tend to lead to the center of the region.
This study aims to determine the economic conditions in Medan City,
analyze the determination of growth centers in Medan City and the interaction
between the Growth Center and the surrounding area or hinterland. This research
uses a descriptive Quantitative analysis method using three analyses, namely,
Scalogram Analysis and Centrality Index to determine growth centers based on the availability of Education, Health, Trade, Finance and Worship facilities, and
Gravity Analysis to estimate the attractiveness or interaction of a growth center area compared to other areas or hinterlands. The results of the analysis show that the growth centers in Medan City are the sub-districts of Medan Petisah, Medan
Area, Medan Sunggal, Medan Helvetia and West Medan as primary growth centers,
with the advantages of the type and number of services that are high for the community, while Medan City in the sub-district as a growth center has the highest
interaction with the hinterland area, namely Deli Serdang Regency and the smallest interaction is Tebing Tinggi City because of the distance factor between the growth
center and the hinterland area.
The suggestion in this study in overcoming these problems is to develop the
region. As a development effort, planning is needed, which is the first step of
regional development. In planning we can see how the condition and character of
the region. In addition, we can later find out what public services or facilities are suitable to be developed in Medan City and the hinterland area. This is done so that the development of public service infrastructure is right on target and in
accordance with the social conditions of the local community.
