dc.description.abstract | One of the high-risk jobs is firefighters. The safety of firefighters deserves serious attention, especially in the extinguishing process. Accidents on firefighters during the extinguishing process have often occurred, such as injuries and even deaths. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is the last step, which includes all technical efforts to prevent accidents. The effectiveness of the use of PPE is hampered by the workers themselves which are influenced by several other factors that are the reasons why workers do not use PPE. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitude with the use of personal protective equipment by fire and rescue personnel of the Civil Service Police Unit in South Tapanuli Regency. This research method uses a Cross Sectional approach. With a total of 36 respondents, firefighters. Statistical test data analysis using the spearman rank test. The variables studied were knowledge, attitude and use of PPE. Data collection was carried out by interviews and using questionnaires. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between workers' knowledge and the use of PPE (p = 0.010 < p = 0.05) and there was a relationship between attitudes and the use of PPE (p = 0.001 < p = 0.05) of firefighters and rescuers at the Civil Service Police Unit, South Tapanuli Regency. It is recommended for the South Tapanuli Regency Regional Civil Service Police Unit to increase the knowledge and attitude of fire and rescue officers by conducting K3 training and maximizing it by installing K3 signs/posters for the use of PPE, as well as facilitating the required PPE and prohibiting the use of inappropriate PPE, as well as sanctioning workers who do not comply with the regulations that have been set | en_US |
