Lalang village market is one of the largest markets as a source of waste that comes from berry selling transactions between traders and buyers. This research aims to determine the factors related to traders participation in waste management at Kampung Lalang Market, Medan City. This type of research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional design, with a sample size of 73 trader respondents. Data collection was carried out directly through interviews using a research questionnaire. Data management uses the chi – square test. The results of the research show that the level of knowledge of traders is in the inadequate category at 61.6%, the attitude of traders is in the inadequate category at 56.2%, the availability of traders facilities is in the inadequate category at 65.8%, the traders income is in the category below the minimum wage. amounting to 60.3%, trader regulations were in the less category at 57.5% and trader participation was in the less category at 58.9%. Factors that have a significant relationship with participation are knowledge with a p value of 0.017, attitude with a p value of 0.042, availability of facilities with a p value <0.001 and income with a p value of 0.003. It is recommended that market managers increase socialization regarding waste management and provide sanctions for traders who violate cleanliness regulations and it is hoped that traders will participate more in maintaining environmental cleanliness and managing market waste
