dc.description.abstract | Skin diseaseas are mostly found in workers in wet environments such as wet fish sellers who are at risk of skin diseaseas. This is because fish sellers in their activities work continuously in contact with water as an irritant that can cause skin disease. This study aims to examine the relationship between personal hygiene, the use of PPE and duration of exposure to skin disease complaints in fish sellers in the Sidikalang Market in 2024. This type of research was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional study design. The total population and sample of this study is 40 fish sellers with sampling techniques using total sampling. The measuring instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Based on univariate analysis, the results were obtained that fish sellers experienced skin disease complaints as much as 70%, the personal hygiene of fish sellers was classified as bad personal hygiene (67,5%), incomplete use of PPE (80%), and the average length of exposure of fish sellers >8 hours/day (72,5%). The most widely sold type of fish is the type of freshwater fish (70%). Bivariate analysis using chi-square with a 95% confidence degree, it was found that there was a relationship between personal hygiene (p=0.000) (PR=2.889), PPE use (p=0,020) (PR=1.500), and duration of exposure (p=0.008) (PR=2.276) with complaints of skin disease. However, there was no relationship between the type of fish sold and complaints of skin disease (p=0.453). It is recommended to fish sellers in the Induk Sidikalang Market to pay more attention to personal hygiene, namely the cleanliness of nails, hands, feet, skin hygiene, and clothing hygiene, wear PPE while working, and reduce the duration of exposure according to normal exposure, which is 8 hours/day to reduce the risk experiencing skin diseases | en_US |
