dc.description.abstractBackground: Hypertension is one of the health problems which is usually found in our daily life; it is called the “silent killer” because it commonly does not show its symptoms clearly but can cause serious complications. The objective of this research is to evaluate the correlation between medication adherence and blood pressure control in hypertension patients at Klambir Lima Kampung Village, Deli Serdang Regency. Research Method: The research uses quantitative method with cross sectional design. The data are collected from 157 hypertension patients as the respondents through questionnaires and measuring their blood pressure. Data are analyzed using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between medication adherence and blood pressure control. Results: The results show that there is a significant relationship between medication adherence and blood pressure control in patients with hypertension (p < 0,05). It is found that the respondents who adhered with medication have lower blood pressure than those who do not adhere to medication. Conclusion: It is concluded that medication adherence is very important in controlling blood pressure. Medication adherence seriously can help control blood pressure and prevent complications in hypertension patients.en_US
