Stress is a physical or psychological response that can lead to adverse and negative effects on the body. Stress can trigger hypertension by activating the sympathetic nervous system, which results in increased blood pressure. The population in this study consist of 190 respondents, with a sample size of 66 individuals. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The bivariate analysis employed is the Pearson test. The results of this study indicate that 54% of respondents experience stress, 47% have stage 2 hypertension in systolic blood pressure, and 56% have stage 2 hypertension in diastolic blood pressure. The data analysis using Pearson’s test reveals a correlation between stress and systolic blood pressure in the elderly with r=0.848 and p-value=0.000, and a correlation between stress and diastolic blood pressure in the elderly with r=0.791 and p-value=0.000 (p<0.005), indicating a significant relationship between stress and blood pressure in the elderly in Kota Datar Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict.
