From the background of the need for building facilities and other supporting
facilities by the University of North Sumatra to accommodate students and female
students who are members of organizations including the Student Executive Board
and Student Activity Unit, a new design for the Student Affairs Building is needed.
The aim and objective of this design is so that students and students at the
University of North Sumatra can socialize in the campus environment, especially
with non-academic activities. The design approach determined is tropical
architecture, which directs architectural design to be responsive to the climate
conditions of Indonesia as a tropical country and emphasizes energy saving
principles. Thus, the final design result is a two-story building whose main space
requirements consist of 13 student activity unit rooms, a student executive body
room, a hall with a capacity of 200 people, and other supporting rooms.
