Perancangan Gedung Kemahasiswaan Universitas Sumatera Utara dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biofilik
Design of The University of North Sumatra Students Building using A Biophilic Architectural Approach
Abstract
The design of the Student Center at the University of North Sumatra (USU)
embodies three main concepts: openness, adaptive & flexible, and green
responsible, with a biophilic architecture approach. The concept of openness is
realized through a design that emphasizes open spaces to facilitate interaction
among students. An adaptive & flexible interior design allows for space
adjustments to accommodate various student activities. Meanwhile, the
implementation of the green responsible concept involves the use of green
technology and renewable energy to create an environmentally friendly
environment. The biophilic architecture approach enriches the design with natural
elements, enhancing student well-being and learning productivity. Integration of
natural elements such as sunlight, vegetation, and fresh air flow is an integral part
of the Student Center's design, creating an inspiring, healthy, and sustainable
environment. By integrating these three concepts with a biophilic architecture
approach, the Student Center at USU is expected to become an inclusive,
innovative, and sustainable hub for both students and the surrounding environment.
