dc.description.abstractPreschool children are an age group that is still in the human golden age. In ensuring good cognitive development, the role of parenting towards their children is very determining. Parenting have changed over time, as evidenced by the trend of parents giving gadgets to their children. To be considered regarding the use of devices in preschool children is limiting the screen time. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between parenting and the duration of children's screen time with the cognitive development of preschool children in Tanjung Morawa District. The type of research used is quantitative analytical observational with a cross sectional research design and a sampling technique using non-probability sampling using purposive sampling. This study used a sample of 30 families with preschool children who met the research inclusion criteria. Data was collected using a form and data on children's cognitive development was obtained using the Denver Development Screening Test II instrument. The data was then analyzed using the chi-square statistical test with the Fisher exact test as an alternative test to obtain a value of p = 0.028 < α = 0.05. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between parenting on children's screen time with the cognitive development of preschool children in Tanjung Morawa District. Researchers found that the majority of respondents used democratic parenting and demonstrated good screen time and good child cognitive development. Parents are expect will set an example regarding the screentime, strengthened by promotional efforts from the puskesmas by involving toddler posyandu cadres in community groups such as kelompok pengajian regarding the duration of screen time for preschool children, as well as the role of the government and private sector in creating applications that can be used on devices to support the process. preschool children's learningen_US
