This study aims to analyze the factors influencing income inequality among countries in the developing Southeast Asian region, focusing on the variables of economic growth and poverty. The method used in this study is panel data analysis with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) estimation to determine the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable.
The results of the panel data regression analysis with FEM estimation show that the variable of economic growth has a positive but not significant effect on income inequality in developing countries in Southeast Asia. In contrast, the variable of poverty has a significant effect on income inequality in the region.
In this study, the calculated F value is 76.06717, which is greater than the F table value of 3.13376, and the significance value (sig) is 0.000000, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates that economic growth and poverty together have an influence on income inequality in developing countries in Southeast Asia.
