Analisis Faktor Penyebab Kecelakaan Lalu Lintas Sepeda Motor di Kota Medan Tahun 2019-2023

Abstract

According to WHO in the Global Status Report on Road Safety 2023, in 2021 the majority of traffic accidents in Southeast Asia involved motorcycles with a percentage of 48% with the number of traffic accidents occurring in Southeast Asia amounting to 330,222. In Medan City during 2019-2023, there were 8,145 traffic accidents, which were dominated by motorcycle traffic accidents totaling 5,674 incidents. The purpose of this research is to describe rider factors, environmental factors and vehicle factors as factors causing motorcycle traffic accidents and analyze trends in factors causing traffic accidents in Medan City in 2019-2023. This research uses descriptive research methods to describe the factors that cause motorcycle traffic accidents. The result of this study is that motorcycle accidents are dominated by human factors (93.8%), environment (5.8%) and vehicles (0.44%). Human factors are dominated by aggressive driving factors, where the majority of perpetrators are aged 16-25 years (34.7%) of the total age group and the majority of perpetrators work as private employees. environmental factors by bad road conditions and vehicle factors by brake factors. In conclusion, human factors dominate the causes of motorcycle traffic accidents in Medan City in 2019- 2023 and it is suggested to SATLANTAS to conduct counseling to schools and campuses to educate students and high school students in motorcycle safety, counseling and education are also needed to the community, especially to private employees who are the majority of motorcycle accident perpetrators, further patrols on motorcycle drivers are carried out at 06.00 - 12.00 with locations on city roads which are times and places where traffic accidents often occur
