dc.description.abstractHypertension is an increase in blood pressure in the arteries with a systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg in two measurements with an interval of 1-2 minutes. The global prevalence of hypertension is 22 percent of the total world population. Southeast Asia has the third highest prevalence of hypertension at 25 percent. Based on the results of the Basic Health Research report 2018 the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.11 percent, prevalence of hypertension in North Sumatra is 29.19 percent, and prevalence of hypertension in Karo Regency is 45,49 percent. Based on the 2019 North Sumatra health profile, prevalence of hypertension was 31.88 percent and prevalence of hypertension in Karo Regency was 41.9 percent. This study aims to determine whether relationship of sociodemography and lifestyle with the incidence of hypertension in adult age at Kabanjahe public Health Center in 2024. This research method used a cross-sectional design with a sampling technique, namely accidental sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 95 respondents with data collected through interviews. Univariate and bivariate analysis using the chisquare test showed the proportion of hypertension incidence at the Kabanjahe Health Center was 55.8 percent. The bivariate results showed that there was a significant relationship between age (p<0.05), latest education (p<0.05), diet (p<0.05), and smoking (p<0.05) with hypertension. However, there was no significant relationship between gender (p>0.05), income (p>0.05), and alcohol consumption (p>0.05) with the incidence of hypertension. Maintaining a diet and stopping smoking to reduce the risk of hypertension and Routinely taking medicine for hypertension patient so that blood pressure is controlleden_US
