dc.description.abstractThe implementation of good personal hygiene could functioned as a preventive action to reduce the risk of disease. Disease caused by fungal infection is one of the disease that can arise due to the poor personal hygiene behavior. Fungal infections attacked 20 – 25% of the world’s population and continuously increased. Indonesia, as one of tropical country with high humidity makes it a country that has a high prevalence of skin fungal infections. Jobs with high contact to damp and dirty environment will have higher risk of fungal growth, one of them is scavengers. This research was aimed to analyze the personal hygiene behavior of scavengers and the incidence of fungal infections on the scavenger’s feet at Batu Bola Landfill Padangsidimpuan City in 2023. This research was a descriptive method for 32 respondents (scavengers) working at the research location, sampling was using total sampling techniques. The personal hygiene of scavengers is in the moderate category for the use of foot protectors (53,1%), while the personal hygiene of scavengers is in the poor category for cleanliness of foot protectors (100%), foot cleanliness (81,3%), nail cleanliness (75%) and hand cleanliness (65,5%) Fungal infections give some signs of red, itchy, sores or blisters between the toes, watery and smelly, thickening and discoloration of the toenails, peeling or cracking soles of the feet and scaly circles that are found on the scavengers foot, shows that the scavengers are lack of concern on personal hygiene. Scavengers are suggested to increase awareness and concern about the implementation of good personal hygiene specially in the workplacesen_US
