Nosocomial infections greatly affect the overall health condition of patients and can increase morbidity and mortality. The Infection Prevention and Control Activity Report at Advent Hospital Medan in 2023 found that of the 11 standard vigilance programs that must be carried out by Advent Hospital Medan nurses, of the 11 standard vigilance indicators there are 5 indicators that have not reached the target, namely, lack of compliance with hand washing hygiene of medical and paramedical personnel, compliance with the use of PPE, compliance with linen handling, compliance with injections and cough ethics / respiratory hygiene. This study aims to analyze of efforts to implement infection prevention and control in nurses at Advent Hospital Medan 2024. This study used qualitative research with snowball sampling technique. There were five informants in this study, namely one Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (IPCN), three heads of rooms and one laundry employee. Data analysis is described using data reduction, data display, and verification. To obtain reliable and valid data, triangulation was used. The implementation of the six-step handwashing detail is not optimal, especially in the situation of the recommended five critical moments, where nurses tend to wash their hands after completing tasks, rather than at the designated critical moments. There are gaps in awareness and commitment to safety protocols, which can jeopardize the safety of patients and nurses themselves. A strict policy of separating infectious and non-infectious linen by using stainless steel and green trolleys with yellow lids has been effectively implemented, supporting the prevention of infection transmission. The implementation of standard precautions in injection practice still has gaps that need to be improved. The implementation of cough etiquette in nurses, which includes covering the mouth when coughing with a tissue or inner sleeve, keeping distance from others when coughing, and washing hands after coughing, has not been disciplined in many health facilities. One way to improve the routine implementation of hand hygiene is through more intensive training and thorough education for nursesen_US
