Hubungan Karakteristik Balita dan Pengetahuan Ibu dengan Kejadian ISPA pada Balita di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Binjai Estate Tahun 2023

Abstract

Reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) (2018) under-five mortality due to ARI in the world ranks first. The ARI Under Five Mortality Rate is 41 per 1,000 children, while the ARI Infant Mortality Rate (IFR) is 45 per 1,000 children. The ARI prevalence rate in Indonesia in 2018 was (9.3 percent). The ARI prevalence rate in North Sumatra Province in 2018 was (6.8 percent). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal characteristics and knowledge with the incidence of ARI in infants in the Working Area of the Binjai Estate Health Center in 2023. The type of research was analytic with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were all toddlers in the working area of the Binjai Estate Health Center and the sample in this study was taken by accidental sampling of 112 people. Data were analyzed by Chi-square. The research results obtained the proportion of ARI was 70.5 percent. The highest proportion of respondents was male 56.2 percent, birth weight <2500 grams 60.7 percent, immunization status 78.6 percent and nonexclusive breastfeeding status 59.8 percent. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between gender (p=0.304), birth weight (p=0.137). There is a significant relationship between immunization status (p=0.011), exclusive breastfeeding status (p=0.020), and mother's knowledge (p=0.000) of the incidence of ARI in toddlers.
