Relationship Between Workload and Work Stress of Nurses at Mental Hospital Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem North Sumatra Province Year 2022
Abstract
One of the factors that causes stress on nurses is the workload that is too heavy, the working time is urgent, the work climate and so on. Workload and work stress will greatly affect the performance of nurses. According to the Health and Safety Executive (2017) states nurses and midwives as professions with the highest cases of suffering from work-related stress. Therefore this study aims to determine the relationship between workload and work stress of nurses at the Prof. Psychiatric Hospital. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem of North Sumatra Province in 2022. The research method is descriptive analytic using a quantitative approach. The research was conducted at Prof. Mental Hospital. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem North Sumatra Province in December 2021 until completion. The population of this study were all nurses with a sample size of 60 people. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the workload description for nurses was that 83.3 percent of nurses had a high workload followed by 16.7 percent of nurses who had a low workload. The description of work stress on nurses is that 53.3 percent have high work stress followed by 46.7 percent have low work stress. Based on the results of the analysis of the relationship between workload and work stress in nurses, a p value of 0.035 (<0.05) was found, which means that there is a relationship between workload and work stress in nurses at the Prof. Mental Hospital. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem in 2022. It is hoped that the management of Prof. Mental Hospital. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem can implement effective stress management for nurses such as managing time, relaxation techniques, and discussion space for nurses to solve problems that may arise when caring for patients
