dc.description.abstract | Plankton is an aquatic biota that lives following currents in the waters. Plankton life
is very dependent on the quality of water in these waters. Physical and chemical
conditions of water that are always changing cause fluctuations in the abundance of
plankton in a water. This study aims to analyze fluctuations in plankton abundance
and its correlation with water quality in Percut Sei Tuan Waters. The study was
conducted in February and March 2023. Sampling technique with filtration method at
3 stations. The sampling period is carried out in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Data analysis to determine the relationship between variables using pearson
correlation in SPSS application version 26. Based on the results of the study,
phytoplankton were found as many as 42 genera and zooplankton obtained as many
as 16 genera. The highest abundance of phytoplankton was 4,635 Ind/L during the
day. The highest zooplankton abundance obtained at night is as much as 1,049. The
highest zooplankton abundance was obtained at night, which was as much as 1,049
Ind/L. The phytoplankton diversity index with an average value of 2,740 was included
in the medium category, while zooplankton with a value of 1,541 was included in the
low category. The Phytoplankton Evenness Index with an average value of 0.889 is
included in the high category and zooplankton with a value of 0.781 is also included
in the high category. The average value of phytoplankton dominance index is 0.085
and zooplankton is 0.295. The results showed that phytoplankton abundance has a
very strong relationship to temperature, light intensity, salinity, TSS, pH, DO, and
Nitrate. The abundance of zooplankton correlates very strongly with current speed,
light intensity, salinity, TSS, TDS, pH, DO, Nitrate, and Phosphate. | en_US |
