Unmanaged waste accumulates will lead to an increase in waste generation and
become environmental issue worldwide. One effort to reduce household waste
volume is the utilization of a waste bank. The aim of this research is to analyze the
relationship between waste bank utilization behaviour and domestic waste volume
in household level at Aur Village, Medan Maimun Sub-district in 2024. This study
is an analytical survey research with a cross-sectional design. The research was
conducted at Aur Village, Medan Maimun Sub-district, from February to May
2024. The sample of this study was 40 individuals using total sampling technique.
Data analysis involves two stages of analysis, univariate analysis with frequency
and bivariate analysis with chi-square and spearman correlation tests at a
significance level of α = 5% (0.05). The research results showed there was a
significant relationship between education level (p = 0.01). There are no significant
relationship between age (p = 0.63), occupation (p = 0.15), and income (p = 0.73).
Additionally, there are significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.003) and
attitude (p = 0.02) with waste bank utilization behavior. However, there were no
significant with positive relationship between waste bank utilization and domestic
waste volume (r = 0.069) and (p = 0.673). Recommendations from this research,
the Medan City Environmental Agency is to continue monitoring and maintaining
performance of the Citra Aur Waste Bank and to Civil Society Organizations, it is
recommended to consistently provide education to enhance the knowledge and
attitudes of low-educated waste bank customers, particularly regarding waste
management alternatives apart from waste bank utilization, as well as the functions
and requirements for waste sorting and storage
