A Description of Mangapuli in The Batak Toba Tribe

Abstract

This research describes the series of processes of the Mangapuli event in the Batak Toba tribe and explains the meaning of Mangapuli event in the Batak Toba tribe. The processes Mangungkap Tujung (Removing the ulos Tujung head covering), Mangan Indahan Sipaet-paet (To eat rice in bitter conditions), and Pasahat Hata Apul-apul (Giving Words of Comfort in the Form of Umpasa) and the meaning of Mangapuli is spiritual meaning, life meaning and social meaning. Theorytically, the research problem are based on Mangapuli in Batak Toba Custom. In Completing the research problem the method uses a qualitative descriptive. Then, after conducting research using the method mentioned above, the findings of this research show that consolation, togetherness, to add solidarity, friendship and are inherent in Mangapuli custom in Batak Toba Customs.
