The Influence of Leadership Style on Employee Performance in the Department of Water Resources, Development and Construction of Medan City
Abstract
The Department of Water Resources, Highways and Construction
Development is required to improve its performance with aspects of
professionalism, effectiveness and efficiency in carrying out its duties and
responsibilities. The professionalism aspect has efficient performance in the use of
resources and is effective in achieving targets and targets which will be able to
provide good quality service to the community. Indicators of Leadership Style are
the ability to make decisions, the ability to motivate, the ability to communicate, the
ability to control subordinates, responsibility and the ability to control emotions.
Meanwhile, indicators of employee performance are work quality, quantity,
timeliness, effectiveness, independence and work commitment. In carrying out its
duties in terms of implementing governance maintenance, a new approach is
needed in evaluating employee performance, known as Performance. In the
empirical context, namely the performance of the Water Resources, Highways and
Construction Services Department.
The type of research used in this research is causal associative research
using questionnaires and survey research methods. Data collection techniques
using questionnaires. Validity test using product moment analysis technique,
questionnaire reliability using the croanbanch alpha formula, and data analysis
with the help of the IBM SPSS Statistic 25 program
The results of the research show that the multiple linear regression
equation shows Y = 10.580+ 0.846 1,677). Then the coefficient of determination
test result (R2) is 0.419, which means that the influence of Leadership Style on
Employee Performance is 41.9%. Meanwhile, the remaining 58.1% was influenced
by other factors outside this research.
