dc.description.abstract | Indonesia's population growth rate of 278.84 million people, if not accompanied by government policies, has the potential to cause various negative impacts, one of which is the increase in slums. Medan is the fifth most populous big city in Indonesia. This condition shows that Medan City cannot be separated from the location points of densely populated settlements such as in the railroad environment. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of residential distance and noise level with community health complaints in the railway environment of Dwikor Village, Medan City. This research is a quantitative study using cross sectional approach. The population and sample of this study were 62 people in the railroad environment of Dwikora Urban Village, Medan City. Measurement of residential distance and noise level was conducted in neighborhoods IV, V, IX using a meter and sound level meter. Data collection on health complaints was taken by interview using a questionnaire and blood pressure examination using a tensimeter. The results showed that 46 respondents (74.2%) established settlements with a distance of 15-30 meters and the majority of noise in respondents' homes exceeded the standard as many as 43 respondents (69.4%). Of the 62 respondents, 41 or (66.1%) of them experienced health complaints. At a distance of 15-30 meters, 38 respondents (82.6%) experienced health complaints and at a distance of 31-45 meters, 3 respondents (18.7%) experienced health complaints. In noise >55 dBA as many as 37 respondents (86.1%) experienced health complaints and in noise ≤55 dBA as many as 4 respondents (21.1%) experienced complaints. Statistical test results showed that there is a relationship between settlement distance (p = 0.0001) and noise level (p = 0.0001) with health complaints. It is suggested that PT KAI and the local government should start making policies to limit the number of people who want to settle in the railroad environment to reduce health complaints that will be experienced by the community | en_US |
