Abstract
Leprosy is a complex health issue in Indonesia, ranking third globally in reported cases after Brazil and India. The prevalence of leprosy in Indonesia was 0.55 per 10,000 population in 2022. The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to leprosy occurrences at Dr. Pirngadi Medan General Hospital from 2020 to 2022. This research employs an analytical cross-sectional design with 143 patients sampled using purposive sampling. Univariate data were descriptively analyzed, and bivariate data underwent Chi-Square tests. Research findings reveal that the highest proportion of outpatient dermatology clinic patients at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan from 2020 to 2022 were in the 19-59 age group (65%), male (65.7%), with high school or equivalent education (66.4%), and a light occupational workload (70.6%). The majority of patients had no contact history (53.1%) and had contact duration of 2 years (80.6%). Multibacillary type accounted for 58%, and voluntary case finding was reported by 71.3%. Significant associations were found between age, gender, education, occupation, and contact history with leprosy occurrences at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan from 2020 to 2022, while no significant correlation was observed with contact duration
