Economic growth is the process of increasing a country's production capacity in the long term. This is closely related to economic development which aims to increase per capita income and reduce economic inequality. So as economic activity grows, people's consumption patterns also change. An important indicator for measuring consumption behavior in an area is the level of expenditure on food and non-food. This research examines the influence of various factors on food and non-food consumption in North Sumatra from 2011-2022. Dependent variables include economic growth, inflation, human development index, unemployment rate, and poor population. Multiple linear regression analysis produces the equation Ŷ = -6.268 + 0.000X1 - 0.004X2 + 0.105X3 + 0.028X4 - 0.036X5 then the simultaneous test (F test) shows F-count 167.91 > F-table (4.39), indicating that at least one independent variable influences the dependent variable significantly. The coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.993, indicating the independent variable influences 99.3% of the variation in consumption, with 0.7% explained by other factors. The multiple correlation between the independent and dependent variables is 99.6%.en_US
