    Abstract
MOP (Male Operation Method) is one of the male contraceptives by cutting or tying the vas deferens to avoid the release of sperm during ejaculation to prevent pregnancy. MOP use in Indonesia is still the lowest compared to other contraceptives, which is influenced by various factors such as understanding, culture, facilities and health workers, and others. Based on this, it’s necessary to conduct research aimed at analyzing the selection of MOP contraception in Batang Bahal Village. This type of research is a case study research using qualitative research methods. The key informants in the study were 5 informants obtained through purposive sampling technique. The results of this study were informants didn’t have good knowledge and understanding related to MOP contraception. Most informants attended birth control counseling, but none discussed MOP contraception. Almost all informants received support from their wives regarding using MOP contraception. All informants didn't get any complaints from their wives regarding their sexual relationship. Each informant had different reasons for using MOP, including: low economic status, a sick wife who can't use birth control, and having more than 2 children. All informants didn't experience symptoms from using MOP, but some informants felt insecure and uncomfortable about not having sperm during sexual intercourse. According to the results of these interviews, we can conclude that all key informants lack understanding about MOP. Barriers experienced by informants who want to use MOP include the lack of MOP counseling in the community, especially for men. The informants' reasons for the use of MOPs were varied: economy, wife's illness, number of children. Informants didn't experience any side effects from using MOP. The suggestion in this study is that health workers should more frequently and enthusiastically provide socialization and counseling related to male birth control, especially MOP contraception, so that public understanding of MOP is improved
