A Description of Traditional Wedding Clothes of Gugung in Karonese Culture

Abstract

This paper aims to determine the special characteristics of the traditional wedding clothes of the Karo Gugung tribe and describe the symbols and meanings contained therein. The method used in this writing is a collection technique through reading and understanding books, journals and articles related to Karo Gugung wedding clothes as well as conducting casual interviews. The traditional wedding clothes of the Karo Gugung tribe is not only clothes, but is also full of cultural values and symbols that reflect the identity and traditions of the Karo Gugung people. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study describes the characteristics, symbols and meanings of the Karo Gugung tribe's wedding clothes. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage and symbolism attached to the traditional wedding clothes of the Karo Gugung tribe.
