Analysis for determining Free Fatty Acid levels has been carried out at the Medan
Customs and Excise Laboratory Hall. This research aims to determine the levels of
free fatty acids in Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). Determination of free fatty acid
levels in POME uses the alkalimetric titration method, which is a quantitative
chemical analysis method using a NaOH solution of known concentration. In the
analysis carried out, the free fatty acid content in POME A had an average of
28.28%, in POME B it had an average of 35.58%, and in POME C it had an average
of 26.98%. The free fatty acid levels in POME A and B have met laboratory quality
standards, while in POME C they have not met laboratory quality standards. Based
on the quality standards of the Customs and Excise Laboratory, the average free
fatty acid content in POME is 28-35%. So it can be concluded that the free fatty acid
levels in (POME A and B) have met good quality standards, while in (POME C) they
do not meet laboratory quality standards so further testing needs to be carried out in
accordance with the free fatty acid content values according to quality standards.
