This research is to determine how much influence Economic Globalization, Economic Growth, and Inflation both in the long term and short term on Unemployment in six ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).
Research type used is quantitative descriptive. That is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The population used in this study is the ASEAN member countries totaling 11 countries. Samples were selected using purposive sampling method amounting of 6 ASEAN member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). The data used are time series data from 2007 to 2021. Data collection was conducted using secondary data sourced from ETH Zurich and Worldbank. This study was analyzed using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) panel method.
The results showed that in the long term, the variables Economic Globalization and inflation have a negative and significant impact on Unemployment in the six ASEAN countries. Meanwhile, economic growth has a positive but insignificant impact on Unemployment in the six ASEAN countries. In the short term, inflation from the previous period has a positive and significant impact on unemployment in the six ASEAN countries. The other variables does not significantly affect unemployment in the six ASEAN countries in the short term.
