Cognitive processes are related to the abilities and limitations of the human brain and sensory systems when engaging in activities associated with information processing. One such activity that requires cognitive function is driving. Driving behavior, such as performing the secondary task of listening to music with different tempos, can affect a person's attention. Disruptions to attention can reduce the ability to correctly process stimuli and interpret information, leading to traffic accidents. The aim of this study is to examine the influence of music tempo on motorcycle rider performance using a driving simulator based on electroencephalography (EEG) wave patterns. Sixteen university students participated in this study, consisting of eight males and eight females aged 20-24 years. The subjects were asked to ride a driving simulator with four scenarios: without listening to music, listening to music with a slow tempo (70 bpm), medium tempo (87 bpm), and fast tempo (138 bpm). The results of this study showed that there was no significant effect of music tempo on rider performance in terms of attention level and the number of violations occurring while driving. However, based on the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test conducted, there was a difference in the average theta wave before and after driving while listening to music with a medium tempo (87 bpm). This indicates that medium tempo music (87 bpm) influences an increase in theta wave activity, which suggests emotional suppression, thus affecting the rider's response to changes in vehicle speeden_US
