dc.description.abstractCuNi alloy is an excellent alloy because of its Solid Solution properties. CuNi alloy is known as a material with good electrical conductivity at high temperatures but poor mechanical properties. To improve the mechanical properties, it is done by adding Mo. Adding Mo alone was not enough to improve so SiC was added. This improvement can be achieved in various ways, including adding metal alloying elements, increasing compaction pressure and appropriate sintering temperatures in powder metallurgy processes. This research aims to determine the effect of variations in SiC composition in (CuNi)-5wt.%Mo alloy on microstructure, mechanical properties and electrical conductivity. The materials used in this research were Copper (Cu), Nickel (Ni), Molybdenum (Mo) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) powders. The process of mixing 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% SiC powder using the horizontal grinding method was carried out for 2 hours at a speed of 300 Rpm. The powder was compacted at a temperature of 250 Mpa for 15 minutes to produce Green Compact, followed by sintering at a temperature of 770⁰C for 120 minutes with an electric muffle furnace. The test results obtained were that the specimens produced with the 3% SiC variation had the best mechanical properties compared to the 0%, 1% and 2% variations, where this specimen had a density of 6.32 gr/cm3, a hardness of 58.3 VHN, maximum stress loading 20 tons 407 Mpa, electrical conductivity 3.541 x 107 S/m, in conclusion, Variation of 3% SiC in powder metallurgy has an important role in producing good composite mechanical propertiesen_US
