An analysis of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) levels
in well water at the UPTD Environmental Laboratory of the Environment and
Forestry Service of North Sumatra Province. The analysis of Dissolved Oxygen (DO)
levels was carried out using the iodometric titration method by SNI 06-6989.14-
2004, and the study of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) levels was conducted using
the DR 3900 Spectrophotometer following SNI 6989.2:2019. The Dissolved Oxygen
(DO) levels for samples A to D were 7,140 mg/L; 6,528 mg/L; 6,936 mg/L; 6,732
mg/L, while the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) levels for samples E to H were
12,019 mg/L; 11,043 mg/L; 9,011 mg/L; 7,004 mg/L. According to Government
Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021 concerning the
Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management, the quality standard
value of well water for class 1 requires a minimum Dissolved Oxygen (DO)
parameter of > 6 mg/L and a maximum Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD of 10
mg/L. All four Dissolved Oxygen (DO) samples met the quality standards, while only
samples G and H met the standards for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).
