Analisis Kandungan Escherichia coli dan Coliform pada Air Minum dan Air Bersih dengan Metode Most Probable Number (MPN) di UPT. Laboratorium Kesehatan Sumatera Utara
Analysis of Escherichia coli and Coliform Content in Drinking Water and Clean Water with The UPT Most Probable Number at The Laboratorium Kesehatan Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Drinking water is water that is safe if consumed and enters the human body, while clean water is water that is used for daily purposes and will become drinking water if it meets the applicable requirements. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the total amount of E.coli and Coliform content in drinking water and clean water and to find out whether the samples tested are in accordance or not with the quality standards, namely Permenkes RI Number 492 / MENKES / PER / IV / 2010 so that we know whether the samples we tested are feasible or not for consumption and daily use. The method used is the Most Probable Number (MPN) method, where the method estimates the number of total Coliform bacteria in 100 mL of water samples by looking at the presence of air bubbles around the Durham tube in each test medium. The results obtained from analyzing the Coliform content in clean water using the Most Probable Number (MPN) method were 3.6 MPN/g and the E. Coli content was <3.0 MPN/g. Meanwhile, in drinking water for Coliform and E.coli content is <3.0 MPN/g. So it can be concluded that clean water with code 0249 which has been tested with the Most Probable Number (MPN) method still needs further testing and is not suitable for daily use due to contamination with Coliform bacteria, and for drinking water samples with code 0261 is still in accordance with applicable quality standards so it is safe for consumption.
