An analysis of the water content, dirt content and free fatty acid content of CPO
and the value of Oil Losses at the Begerpang Palm Oil Mill have been carried out. The
purpose of this analysis was to determine the water content, dirt content, free fatty acid
content in CPO and the Oil Losses value. As well as to determine whether the values from
this analysis meet the standards set by the BGPOM factory. Water content analysis is
carried out using a heating method using an oven. Analysis of impurity content is carried
out using the gravimetric method which focuses on measuring the weight of the substance
to determine the impurity content in CPO which can be measured accurately. Analysis of
free fatty acid levels is carried out by the alkalimetric titration method where the
neutralization reaction of free fatty acids will be neutralized by KOH with phenolphthalein
indicator. Oil Losses analysis using the soxhletation extraction method where the sample
is made into a solid or semi-solid and then extracted using n-hexane solvent. The average
results of water content analysis obtained were: 0.1456%, Dirt Content Analysis:
0.0256%, Free Fatty Acid Content Analysis: 0.3455%, and Oil Losses Analysis: 3.9566%.
The results obtained from this research meet the standards set by the BGPOM factory.
