    Analysis of Free Fatty Acid and Iodine Value in Crude Palm Oil (CPO) at The Medan Class II Customs Laboratory

    Abstract
    Analysis of Free Fatty Acid (ALB) and Iodine Numbers on Crude Palm Oil (CPO) products at the Customs Laboratory Center Class II Medan has been carried out. The purpose of this study is to determine whether CPO products are in accordance with SNI quality standards. Research on Free Fatty Acid (ALB) analysis was carried out by alkalimetric titration method and Iodine Numbers by iodometric titration method. From the results of the research that has been done obtained the value of Free Fatty Acids (ALB) in CPO A with an average value of: 4.77%, in CPO B with an average value of: 3.74%, and in CPO C with an average value of: 3,72%. While the Iodine Numbers in CPO A with an average value are: 53.04 g I2/100 g, in CPO B with an average value of: 54.25 g I2/100 g, and in CPO C with an average value of: 56.57 g I2/100 g. The results of the analysis show that Crude Palm Oil (CPO) has met the SNI quality standards. But the Iodine Numbers for CPO C exceeded the value set by SNI 01-2901-2006, possibly due to errors during titration so that the results obtained in CPO C exceeded the SNI used, where the quality standard for Free Fatty Acids in CPO is a maximum of 5% and Iodine Numbers in CPO is 50-55 g I2/100 g according to SNI 01-2901-2006.
