    Abstract
Water pollution can be caused by waste containing pollutants entering water bodies or the environment in general. Wastewater can be domestic wastewater, originating from household, residential and offices activities. One of the parameters of wastewater pollution is ammonia compounds. High ammonia levels can have a negative impact on aquatic ecosystems. Research analyzing ammonia levels in domestic wastewater samples was carried out at the Medan Public Health Laboratory Center (BLKM). The analytical method used is the spectrophotometric method with a NOVA-60 spectrophotometer. This research aims to determine the ammonia content in domestic wastewater and compare them with the quality standards established based on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No. 68 of 2016 concerning the quality of domestic wastewater. The results of the analysis of ammonia levels carried out obtained 1.93 mg/L in the test sample 0028; 1.93 mg/L in test sample 0029; 3.86 mg/L in test sample 0030; 3.77 mg/L in test sample 0031 and 0.19 mg/L in test sample 0032. The ammonia level was stated to still meet the quality standard requirements in accordance with the regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No.68 of 2016 with the maximum limit of ammonia levels set at 10 mg/L.
