The life of prisoners in prison certainly greatly affects their psychological health, due to the loss of freedom and rights that a person has in socializing and continuing their life. This research aims to look at the dynamics of emotional regulation carried out by female prisoners in dealing with their despair in prison, which triggers suicidal ideation and attempts. This research uses a qualitative case study approach where data collection is used in the form of observations and interviews, with a total of 4 participants. The research results showed that all research subjects did not reach the final stage of emotional regulation, namely Response Modulation. The emotional regulation process carried out by the four subjects always went back when they had reached the next stage. This then triggered suicidal ideation in all subjects which was based on feelings of hopelessness that cannot be regulated properly.
