    Abstract
The development of telecommunications technology continues to grow, the demand for high-speed telecommunications is an unavoidable reality, increasing demand for broadband services and the emergence of new technology to support data needs in the gigabit era. Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology is a potential solution for increasing capacity and mobility as well as reducing costs in access networks. Radio over Fiber (RoF) is a process of sending radio frequency signals via fiber optic transmission medium. In Radio Over Fiber transmission, there is a consequence of pulse widening which causes Intersymbol Interference (ISI) resulting in the system not being detected due to the output pulses stacking on top of each other. To reduce dispersion problems that occur along optical fibers, additional components are needed, namely Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) and Dispersion Compensation Fiber (DCF) which can improve network performance in the form of values and analysis of Q-factor and BER. Both FBG and DCF have their own characteristics so we will investigate which compensator is appropriate to overcome dispersion at distances of up to 500 km. At the end of this research, the best compensator to use to handle dispersion is DCF. The RoF transmission system using DCF is capable of transmitting signals up to a distance of 400 km with the best Q-factor value using line coding NRZ 6.10856 and BER 4.88 x 10-10. Meanwhile, using FBG is capable of transmitting signals up to a distance of 300km with the best Q-factor value using line coding NRZ 6.06794 and BER 6.27 x 10-10
