dc.description.abstract | This paper is titled A Description Of Figurative Language In Eric Clapton's Slowhand Album. It discusses the types of figurative language found in some of the song lyrics of the slowhand album by Eric Clapton. The purpose of this paper is to find out the types of figurative language and also the most dominant type of figurative language used in the song of the slowhand album. The method used by the writter is the Qualitative Descriptive method. In writing this paper, the author conducted library research, collecting data and information from books and the internet. The writer collects and finds figurative language data from Eric Clapton's song lyrics on the Slowhand album, by sorting or analyzing the song lyrics and classifying the figurative language and then interpreting the figurative language. Based on the results of the analysis, the author found 22 data on the use of figurative language consisting of fourteen metapora, three hyperbole, one simile, two imagery, one personification, and one symbolic. It seems that this is the writer's style in making songs, he wants to convey messages through song lyrics. This is why I think this is very important for English students who are interested in literature and figurative language. The analysis also shows that metapora and hyperbole are the most figurative language types that appear in Eric Clapton's lyrics on the slowhand album. | en_US |
