dc.description.abstract | The manufacture of thermoplastic polypropylene with rice husk ash filler has been
carried out using the sol gel method. Preparation and synthesis of rice husk ash
silica was carried out using HCl IM and NaOH IM solvents. The composition of each
thermoplastic was varied and mechanical tests (tensile test, elongation break and
Modulus of Elasticity (MOE)) and characterization (X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning
Electron Microscopyand X-Ray Fluorescence) were carried out. In this study, five
variations of the addition of rice husk ash silica filler were used, namely (0,1,3,5,7
%wt) then pressed with a hotpress machine with an ASTM D638. The prepared rice
husk ash silica was then characterized using XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) to determine
the crystal size. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) to determine the morphology
of thermoplastics. XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) to determine the elements in
thermoplastics. The most optimum composition was obtained at a variation of 5%wt
with a tensile strength value of 29.41 MPa. Elongation Break 2.91 mm and MOE of
407.4 MPa. The XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) characterization results show that the
silica produced from the preparation of rice husk ash is amorphous and has a size of
0.1 µm. SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) results show that the morphology of
the sampel is agglomerated, causing clumps og particles in the thermoplastic
sampel. XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) results show that the elements contained in
thermoplastic contain 53.99% SiO2, 9.21% K2O, 7.97% Al2O3, 6.13% MgO, 6.10%
CaO, and 5.53% Fe2O3. | en_US |
