This research is titled "Framing Analysis of Government Policy News Coverage on
Tuberculosis Handling in Indonesia on the Online Media Detik.com and IDN Times
Sumut." The research method is qualitative. The aim of this study is to understand how
Detik.com and IDN Times Sumut frame the issue of government policies in handling
tuberculosis. The literature reviews used include mass communication, mass media, new
media, mediating reality, media hierarchy model, theory of media reality construction,
framing analysis, Robert N. Entman's framing analysis, public policy, and tuberculosis.
The data in this research were obtained through documentation studies, observations,
and in-depth interviews. Data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The
results of this study reveal that Detik.com and IDN Times Sumut frame the government as
being active and dedicated in handling and making policies regarding tuberculosis cases
in Indonesia. The news coverage of government policies on tuberculosis handling in
Indonesia on Detik.com is informative, while on IDN Times Sumut, it is both informative
and educational. Both media consider tuberculosis to be an urgent issue and important to
report on. Organizational systems and routines in the media influence decision-making
regarding coverage in the two analyzed media outlets.
