Background: Skincare is currently a major focus in the beauty industry. Skin exfoliation is an important step in skincare. One of the products used for skin exfoliation is body scrub. Ingredients that can be used in the body scrub are himalayan salt and cinnamon bark extract. Himalayan salt helps remove dead skin cells and moisturize the skin, while cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) has antibacterial activity that can protect the skin from Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Objective: To formulate and test the effectiveness of himalayan salt body scrub and cinnamon bark extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) with skin analyzer and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Methods: The research stages include plant identification, sample collection, sample processing, extract preparation, plant characterization, plant phytochemical screening, extract antibacterial testing, body scrub formulation of himalayan salt and cinnamon bark extract concentrations of 0%; 2.5%; 5% and 10%, formula evaluation and antibacterial testing. The effectiveness of the body scrub was tested using a skin analyzer. Antibacterial activity testing of body scrub was carried out against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Results: The characterization of plant met the requirements of the Herbal Pharmacopoeia. Cinnamon bark extract contains alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, glycoside, tannin and triterpenoid compounds. The antibacterial activity of cinnamon bark extract has a relatively strong inhibition zone starting from a concentration of 6.25 mg/mL, which is 10.48 ± 0.26 mm. The evaluation results of the body scrub are qualified and stable in room temperature and cycling tests. All of the formula are non-irritating and effective as body scrub. Formula with a concentration of 10% extract have better effectiveness, obtained a percent increase in skin moisture (71.62%), a decrease in pore size on the skin (76.38%) and a decrease in the number of blemishes on the skin (70.73%) for 4 weeks of treatment. In testing the antibacterial activity of the body scrub with a concentration of 10% extract has an inhibition of 14.20 ± 0.59 mm which is classified as strong against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Conclusion: Himalayan salts and cinnamon bark extract can be formulated into a body scrub form that meets the stability requirements and has the effectiveness in smoothing, brightening, moisturizing the skin and antibacterial activity.en_US
