dc.description.abstractHuman development is the development of the potential of individuals and society in achieving progress and improving welfare. Improving the quality of life of the community by ensuring the availability of access to basic human needs such as health, education and social services. This study aims to determine the groups of Regencies and Cities in North Sumatra based on four indicators of the Human Development Index (HDI). The four indicators are Life Expectancy (UHH), School Life Expectancy (HLS), Average School Length (RLS) and Expenditure per Capita (PPK). The determination of the grouping of districts/cities in North Sumatra Province is by applying the k-means algorithm method. The results of the research obtained in grouping the data of human development index indicators in North Sumatra Province are cluster 1 totaling 18 districts/cities with a high level of human development index and cluster 2 totaling 15 districts/cities with a low level of human development index.en_US
