Pain varies greatly from individual to individual. Short-lasting pain is usually the result of injury, surgery or illness. One of the most common problems in patients arriving at the Emergency Departement (ED) is pain caused by fractures. Cold compress is one of non-pharmacologica methods using cold packs on reducing the intensity of acute pain in fracture patients. Quantitative research methods using Quasi-Experiment with a pretest, post test group design approach. Sampling inthis study using consecutive sampling technique with a sample of 66 respondents. Assessment of pain intensity in this study using NRS (Numeric Rating Scale). Data analysis in this study using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney U tests showed the provision of cold compresses using cold packs with a duration group of 20 minutes of mild pain intensity as many as 24 respondents (72.7%), moderate pain as 0 respondents (0%), Severe pain as many as 9 respondents (27.3). Giving cold compresses using cold packs with a 30-minute duration group had mild pain intensity as many as 31 respondents (93.9), and moderate pain as many as 2 respondents (6.1%). From the result of this study, nursing services can implement cold compresses using cold packs as an alternative to non-pharmacological pain management in hospitals.en_US
