dc.description.abstractBackground: Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) is a wild plant to the genus Zanthoxylum, a member of the Rutaceae family which has the potential to be used as a source of natural antioxidants. Alkaloids can be found abundantly in plants, especially from the Rutaceae family and Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. is a type of plant that comes from the genus Zanthoxylum and the Rutaceae family. The CUPRAC method for measure antioxidant activity has advantages compared to other antioxidant measurement methods, CUPRAC reagent is fast enough to oxidize antioxidant thiols. Objective: To determine the antioxidant activity of metanol extract and fraction from Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC fruit using CUPRAC method and to identify what kind of alkaloid compounds will be isolated from Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. fruit. Methods: Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. fruit was extracted by reflux using metanol. Antioxidant activity for extract and fraction was measured with CUPRAC (Cupric Ion Reducing Antioxidant Capacity) method. Alkaloid compounds were isolated using column chromatography and the isolate was identify using UV-Visible spectrophotometry and FTIR. Result: The IC50 of metanol extract and fraction of chloroform pH 3, pH 7, pH 9, pH 11 and water was 87.01 ± 1.87 μg/mL, 68.34 ± 0.21 μg/mL, 24.00 ± 0.96 μg/mL, 32.30 ± 0.63 μg/mL, 151.88 ± 0.45 μg/mL, and 100.01 ± 0.50 μg/mL. The alkaloid compund that has been isolated from Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. Fruit is dictamnine from furoquinoline group. Conclusion: The fraction of chloroform pH 7 has the strongest antioxidant activity compared to other fractions. The alkaloid compound contained in the Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. fruit is dictamnine.en_US
