Women's Involvement in the Bartong Village Bah Bolon River Nature Tourism Village Development Program
Abstract
This research is entitled Women's Involvement in the Development Program of the Nature Tourism Village of Bah Bolon River, Bartong Village. The background of this research is to see the involvement of women in the tourism village development program, the factors of involvement and the benefits of women's involvement in the tourism village program. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques with in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that women are involved in the tourism village program with various professions. There are those who trade food, drinks, clothes, become tour guides, and take care of entrance tickets. Women who are involved are influenced by economic needs, psychological factors and social factors, namely the need for female labor which is considered more thorough to take care of tools and goods at tourist sites. The village government formed a tour guide group consisting of 13 women. The benefits felt by women involved in the tourism village program are the fulfillment of family economic needs, gaining new knowledge because of the trainings provided by the government to women who participate in the tourism village program. Not only for women, the tourism village program also provides good benefits for the village, namely reduced crime rates, and the availability of many new jobs. Bartong as a tourist village has fulfilled the indicators of the success of a tourist village because attractions, accessibility, and amenity have been fulfilled. The government in the tourism village program has an important function, namely conducting discussions with the community, providing the facilities needed and providing opportunities for Bartong village women to be involved in the tourism village program. This research expects further discussion from future researchers regarding what efforts can be made so that Bartong village and Bah Bolon river nature tourism will increasingly exist among the people of Indonesia and abroad.
