Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 - 2023 triggered a global crisis that had a wide impact, including for Japan. The country, which has been known for its commitment to peace and democratic values, is faced with a dilemma in formulating its foreign policy against the conflict. This study aims to examine Japan's political intervention in the Russia-Ukraine war 2022 – 2023, and to what extent Japan can exert influence in order to suppress Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
