Abstract
This research aims to find out the role of the Social Service for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DSP3A) towards children in conflict with the law in Mandailing Natal Regency. This research was conducted using descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The number of informants in this research was 9 people consisting of 2 key informants, namely 2 heads of fields related to the research title, 4 main informants consisting of 3 children in conflict with the law and 1 DSP3A staff who participated in handling cases of children in conflict with the law. Additional informants consisting of 3 people from the community around the child were in conflict with the law. The results of this research show that the role of DSP3A towards children in conflict with the law consists of 2 roles, namely the role after the case of the child in conflict with the law and the role before the case occurs. The role after a crime occurs includes 5 points, namely, receiving reports of cases of children in conflict with the law, conducting outreach, coordinating with the PPA unit technical team, carrying out diversion, and providing guidance for child perpetrators. Meanwhile, the role before a case occurs or the preventive role is to carry out socialization about children in conflict with the law with the theme of stopping violence against children. This socialization is carried out in villages and elementary schools (SD) with the aim of increasing public awareness of the importance of avoiding violence against children which causes children dealing with the law.
