Background : The content of orange peel is phenolic compounds are known to have activity as antioxidants which can be made to face mist skincare that meet the standard for face mist for moisturizers. Purpose : to test the antioxidant activity of sweet orange peel, formulate the extract into a face mist, measure the antioxidant activity of the face mist, and examine the moisturizing effectiveness of the face mist. Method : Experimental methods were used in this research. The extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and concentrated. The antioxidant activity was conducted using the DPPH with a maximum wavelength of 516 nm. Evaluation of face mist includes organoleptics, pH, viscosity, and spraying patterns. Long-term stability tests were carried out at room temperature (28±2)℃ for 12 weeks and accelerated stability tests were carried out for 6 cycles at temperatures of (4±2)°C and (40±2)°C.. The irritation test was used by 10 volunteers who were dripped with the face mist and observe if irritation occurred. The effectiveness test as moisturizer was done by spraying the preparation on the back of the volunteer's hand and the moisture was measured after 5, 30, 60, 120, 180 minutes and mesured again after 5 days application of face mist use using a skin analyzer.using a skin analyzer. Result : The extract yield obtained 32.85%. The IC50 value of the ethanol extract of sweet orange peel was 9.7651 μg/mL, the vitamin C comparison was 3.1685 μg/mL, and the face mist F1(0.048%) is 128.4169 μg/mL, F2 (0.073%) is 114.3516 μg/mL, and F3(0.097%) is 91.1397 μg/mL. The product face mist is a slightly thick, transparent yellow liquid with a characteristic orange peel odor, homogeneous, stable during storage, the spray pattern diameter is (7.17 ± 0.35) cm to (17.90 ± 0.89) cm. Stability test pH 5.67- 5.40 and viscosity 15.467cP-15.833 cP. Irritation test result is non-irritating product. The moisturizing effect to the skin after 3 hours of use represent the recovery percentage of the face mist formulation for F0, F1, F2, F3, and positive control is 75%, 144%, 177%, 242%, and 281%. The moisturizing effect to the skin after 5 days of use represent the percentage of the face mist formulation for F0, F1, F2, F3, and positive control is 205%, 261%, 313%, 315%, and 294%. Conclusion : The ethanol extract of sweet orange peels has very strong antioxidant activity. The ethanol extract of sweet orange peels is formulated into a concentrated face mist which has strong antioxidant activity, provides a good moisturizing effect, qualify as facial care product with pH 4.5-6.5, viscocity <150 cP, minimum spreadibility 5 cm – 7 cm, and is stable during storage.en_US
