Indonesian tourism has developed very well because it has a great contribution to the
Indonesian economy. Tourism in Indonesia has the potential to develop and utilize tourist
attractions with natural beauty and the preservation of local culture with the concept of
ecotourism. In Samosir Regency, there are natural attractions that have the potential to
be used as ecotourism areas, namely Aek Natonang Lake and Sampuran Na Pitu
Waterfall. Ecotourism has 5 basic concepts, namely Nature Based, Ecologically
Sustainable, Environmental Educative, Locally Beneficial, and Generates Tourist
Satisfaction. The research method used in this study is to use the scoring method to assess
the Tourism Land Suitability Index (IKW) to be used as ecotourism. The results of this
study found that Lake Aek Natonang tourism is classified as very suitable (S1) and
Sampuran Pitu Waterfall tourism is classified as appropriate (S2) to be used as an
ecotourism area
