Resiliensi Masyarakat dalam Menghadapi Keterbatasan Air dan Perubahan Iklim di Desa Salaon Toba, Kecamatan Ronggur Nihuta Kabupaten Samosir

Abstract

Climate change has an impact on water scarcity that affects household activities and the agricultural sector, leading to crop failure and decreased agricultural production. Based on this fact, the community needs to respond by adapting to climate change. This research aims to find out the resilience applied by the Salaon Toba Village community in dealing with water limitations during climate change. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection of interviews, observation and documentation. The research analysis used the theory of rationality proposed by Max Weber and the theory of rational farmers proposed by Samuel L. Popkin. The results of this study show that the people of Salaon Toba Village carry out several forms of resilience to deal with climate change such as: using transportation services as buying and selling taken by Lake Toba, using water bars on the roof of the house (water harvesting), making large reservoirs or tubs outside and inside the house, strict water savings that are carried out consciously, and water supply based on gender aspects. Although the village has water resources such as springs, rainwater, Lake Toba water and Lake Pea Porohan, it experiences limited utilisation by several aspects. This research uses the theory of rationality and rational farmers to analyse rational choices in households and agriculture in meeting water needs by considering various existing factors.
